BSA was blessed with the opportunity to provide design services for the renovation of the Design Award winning St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, a nationally significant mid century modern building. The project required exterior and interior repair of over fifty years of “deferred maintenance”, a new finish scheme, new lighting package (with custom designed nave lighting fixtures), new sound system, reconfigured multi-use spaces for flexibility, and new landscaping.
A significant design challenge was to provide the changes without altering the character of this significant modern landmark.
Costs were developed via a “menu” of design options with specific related costs. The final budget was within 1/4% of the estimate.
The project was warmly received by the congregation and won a Builder’s Exchange Craftsmanship Award.
