A small national restaurant based out of Portland Oregon, Original Pancake House-Upper Arlington was the company’s first expansion into Ohio. Serving as the first of its kind in Ohio, the design focus was on creating a unique and memorable space, while referencing the classic diner atmosphere.
The space is primarily organized by the continuous soffit, which wraps the traditional diner countertop. This soffit serves to help separate the restaurant into distinct dining spaces, including a private event room featuring art of the “Original” Original Pancake House. This continuous wrap of the soffit also serves as the focal point of the restaurant, highlighting the communal space of the counter.
