Bass Studio Architects provided Design Architect services and planned support through the entitlement phase for this large urban mixed-use project — also known as “Verve Columbus.”

Significant challenges were preserving the beloved historic fabric on the two main facades of an existing building; maintaining a pedestrian experience; and navigating city zoning, two University District planning and review boards; and two neighborhood boards in the main High Street corridor.

The project encompasses retail on grade, residential units above, and covered parking spaces.

A main organizing principle was to allow the massing to step down to the point of engagement with the neighborhood.
