The oldest building in Pickaway County became our favorite un-built project.  The Owner desired a facility for manufacturing, offices and retail for the tee shirt business.

The project demanded a significant analysis to come to grips with the barn structure and how best to create a commercial facility within.

We found a crib structure of heavy timber at the sub level, independent of the structure above. The two were joined by yet another set of beams in a fabulous overlay of redundant structure.

We proposed to remove a section of the main floor to reveal the structure, creating a lower level retail floor. A new mezzanine was created for office space and arranged so that shoppers would have a long view from the lowest level through the incredible existing historic structure. The new elements are a whimsical play on vernacular agrarian materials and images.
